iOS PTT System Interface
The Apple PTT System framework, part of iOS 16.2 or newer, enables Apple users to access push to talk from various screens including the lock screen. Note that this feature will appear slightly differently depending on the version of iPhone, but will always be located at the top of the screen, whether it's a blue bar across the top, a blue symbol, or as part of a dynamic island.
See the "blue pill" icon in the toolbar. When enabled, it's solid blue, and is also apparent at the very top of the device screen. Tap the blue pill to toggle the system off. |
Tap again to toggle the blue pill on. PTT calls will proceed as usual when the app is open, whether the PTT interface is on or off. |
From the home screen, when the PTT interface is on, tap the blue icon at the top of the screen to open the system UI. If you have a channel selected, you can initiate a call. If you receive a call, you can answer it from here, just by pressing "talk."
This feature works in the home screen as well as other open app screens.
|
If you press the red "Leave" button, you will not end the call; you will be disabling the PTT interface. You'll get a confirmation message.
If you disable the PTT Interface, you will have to launch the app in order to rejoin the call. |
When the screen is locked, you can still participate in a call by pressing the Talk button. The UI will show details of the call such as the channel name, idle status, and who has the floor.
Note: the red "Leave" button does not end the PTT call. |

If you press the red "Leave" button, you will be turning off the PTT interface and will get this warning.
If you do disable the PTT Interface, you will have to open the device and then the app in order to rejoin the channel. |
