Select the Microphone Source for a Sonim Device
Choose the appropriate Microphone Source option based on your use case. The default setting for the microphone source is set to Default. If you use your device on a vehicle mount, or are speaking into the mic from a distance, keep Default as the appropriate microphone source setting.
If you hold the device in your hand and speak closely into the mic, change the microphone source setting to Voice communication. The Voice communication setting is suitable for speaking into the device mic at close range, as it provides a reduction in ambient and background noise.
The microphone source setting must be chosen on the device itself from the Advanced Settings menu. You may not adjust this setting from the Admin Portal. Follow the instructions below.
Open the Navigation Drawer by selecting the three bars in the top left corner. |
Scroll down to select the Settings menu. Once there, scroll down and select Advanced. |
From the Advanced Menu, scroll down to select Microphone Source. The pop up menu offers the choice between Default and Voice communication. |
Keep Default as the microphone source if the device is in a mounted setting. The microphone will pick up all noise. Change to Voice communication if you will speak into the device at close range and wish for reduced ambient and background noise.
